There have been attempts to get more and more out of various three-lettered phenomena in the past, but none has matched the present hysteria- over a simple word that meant, until a few years back, little more than an Arachnian abode. Yes, it's the W E B. Add to this hysteria the strange interplay of design, colours, text, jpgsgifs, gifs- animations, e-business, e-mail, e-chats, virtually e-anything, and we're left entangled in a mess that even the deadliest Black Widow won't dream of weaving. However, tucked away in some corners of this virtual cobwebbery, lie a few gems. But then, in this virtual world, one man's gem is another man's pebble. The aim of this initiative is to bring to light such gems. Yes, I know I said one man's gem is another man's pebble, but at least it'd be helpful to know what we collectively think is the kind of stuff that gems should be made of.

Here is a list of potential gems to start with.

  1) www.tomato.co.uk
A website about conversations. It's about ideas formed in any media as an appropriate response to the conversation.

High Bandwidth. Good shockwave navigation

  2) www.playstation.com
Sony Computer plans to launch an e-commerce company next month to sell hardware and software for the Playstation Videogame Machine. The website will eventually expand to selling music recorded on CDs and DVDs.

Viewing resolution 800*600 and above.

  3) Playcranium Board Game Inventor Profile and Interviews
What happens when two high level software developers at Microsoft, leave Microsoft, and over a weekend develop a board game that utilizes both the right and the left brain function. A Game for the whole brain. Read about the inventor's profile and play a shockwave version of the game.

Great layout, interesting presentation
